Blackmagic Design unveils its new Web Presenter 4K model

It’s been a busy week for Blackmagic. Not only did the digital cinema company announce a powerful new broadcast camera, the Blackmagic Studio Camera, and revamp its entire HyperDeck Studio line – it also announced a 4K model of its popular Web Presenter.

The Web Presenter 4K model comes with everything you get with the original HD model and builds on that. So, you get an H.264 encoder, a 12G-SDI input with a down converter, and direct streaming to platforms like YouTube, Twitch and Facebook Live. Overall, the 4K model looks almost identical to the HD model, which is great, since the original model’s compact design allows for remote streaming with your laptop. It’s nice the 4K model offers more powerful options and still retains the compact body.

The 4K model comes with an updated H.264 hardware encoder. Now, you can stream native Ultra HD (UHD) resolutions to your platform of choice. The way the Web Presenter works is it takes in incoming HD and UHD input signals and converts them to higher quality. So, the 4K model converts into higher quality (2160p60 UHD) than the original (1080p HD).

Supports webcams through USB

Just like the original model, there are two USB connections on the Web Presenter 4K model. These USB connections can operate as a webcam source, allowing you to plug the Web Presenter directly into your laptop and run it with video software. Once plugged in, both Web Presenter models can act as a standard webcam. The Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K model is compatible with any video software up to 2160p Ultra HD quality. For comparison, the original model maxes out at 1080p HD quality.
