Sony’s launching a new tool kit for vloggers and video creators: the RX100 III Video Creator Kit. The kit is based around the company’s RX100 III camera.
The kit includes the RX100 III itself. The camera is part of Sony’s Cyber-shot line of compact cameras. Inside the RX100 III lives a 1” Exmor R sensor and BIONZ X processor. It also features 180-degree tiltable LCD screen and 24-70mm F1.8-2.8 ZEISS lens. Getting back to the kit, the bundle also includes a remote grip that can also work as a mini tripod, a 64GB SD Memory Card and an extra NP-BX1 battery.
Of the new kit, Neal Manowitz, deputy president for Imaging Products and Solutions Americas at Sony Electronics said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for them to realize their vision, to capture content in new and different ways.” Manowitz added, “An excellent all-in-one solution, the new Video Creator Kit is a convenient tool that will encourage many aspiring creators to go out and shoot.”
Let’s go over some of the kit’s contents so you can know exactly what it has to offer:
RX100 III
Video recording
The DSC-RX100 III records 50 Mbps Full HD 60p video in XAVC S and saves files as MP4. The camera can also capture 120 fps at 720p and features dual-video-recording capabilities. This allows the camera to record in XAVC S/AVCHD along with MP4 files.
Also, the system’s Intelligent Active Mode uses Sony’s frame rate analysis tech and 5-axis image stabilization to reduce camera shake.
Design
For vloggers, the camera has a fully-tiltable 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD Display. So you can see the image the entire time you’re recording. Plus, its WhiteMagic tech should make the screen easier to see in bright daylight. The viewfinder is also a pop-up EVF that features an OLED Tru-Finder with a ZEISS T* coating.
F1.8-2.8 lens
According to Sony, the DSC-RX100 III uses a “fast, sharp” F1.8-2.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens. It’s sporting a 24-70mm zoom with a “versatile range of perspectives” between wide-angle and medium-telephoto. Additionally, it offers defocused, bokeh backgrounds and a multi-layered T* coating.
Shooting grip
The RX100 III Video Creator Kit also includes the VCT-SGR1 shooting grip. The grip controls capture and zoom functions directly from the grip and integrates with the RX100 III. Plus, it doesn’t matter if you are right- or life-handed. It works for both. Also, it has pop-out legs, making it into a mini-tripod.
Pricing and availability
The RX100 III Video Creator Kit will be out this month for about $799. You can learn more about the kit at alphauniverse.com.
