Red Giant Universe 3.0 adds new presets, effects and the Universe Dashboard

Universe3-Reseller (1) — Red Giant Universe 3.0 update its transitions plugins and adds in new effects

Red Giant Universe 3.0 updates the collection of video effects and plugins with a new Universe Dashboard and a dockable control board for Premiere Pro and After Effects.

The major update’s new Dashboard is supposed to make “it simple to add effects and presets.” There are also now five new, customizable text generation effects give users more ways to add “a unique flair or specific look” to their work, according to Red Giant. Plus, there are over 75 tools supported across 8 host-applications included in Red Giant Universe 3.0.

New Universe Dashboard

With the update, the Universe Dashboard will allow users to save effects as favorites and find recently used effects and transitions. That was a top request that Red Giant got from Universe users. It’s good to see them implementing it, hopefully making workflows quicker and simpler.

In addition to integration with Premiere Pro and After Effects, there’s also a modified version of the Dashboard is available for other applications outside of Adobe Creative Cloud.

Five new text generation effects

Type cast: type cast animates text properties like color, opacity, size, position, and rotation by the word of character
Type on: with this effect, you can make computer terminal-style type reveals
Screen text: screen text fill the entire screen with scrolling code
Hacker text: this effect lets you make computer hacker-style scrambled text animations
Text tile: with text tile, you can generate multiple columns full of random data for use in motion graphics and computer terminal effects

Presets

Red Giant claims the 3.0 update comes “with presets that can be explored via the new Dashboard.” There’s also now a Save Preset button for every Universe effect that lets you save presets to the Dashboard or the preset browser.
