iFootage has announced its latest motorized slider, the iFootage Shark Slider Nano 2. The new slider has been co-engineered with DJI so you can integrate compatible DJI gimbals.
Two models
The Shark Slider Nano 2 is available in two sizes. The short version is 18.2 inches (463 mm) long and delivers 9.2 inches (233 mm) of travel. With the long version, you get 17 inches (433 mm) of travel from a slider that is 26.1 inches (663 mm) long. Despite the size differences, both models of the Shark Slider Nano 2 have a horizontal payload of over 15 pounds (7 kg) and a vertical payload of 7.7 pounds (3.5 kg).
Gimbal integration
The headline feature of the Shark Slider Nano 2 is the ability to integrate a DJI gimbal using a patented adaptor. iFootage says that the new slider was co-developed with DJI, and you can pair it with the DJI RS2, RS3 Pro, RS4 and RS4 Pro. As a result, you can achieve smooth pan, roll and tilt movement as well as horizontal travel with your slider footage.
Controlling the slider
You can control the Shark Slider Nano 2 via an app or the built-in OLED touchscreen. The touchscreen features an intuitive user interface so you can quickly set up and operate the slider. There are also five different control modes: video, timelapse, panorama, stop motion and macro. In addition, you can set up to eight waypoints, or keyframes, for complex, fully automated camera moves.
AI tracking
The Shark Slider Nano 2 offers AI-powered facial recognition and tracking. To use this function, you need to mount your smartphone on top of the camera and then simply select the object to track. Combined with a DJI gimbal, this delivers full five-axis smart tracking including pan, tilt and roll. This means you can effectively turn any camera into a fully-featured PTZ camera.
Powering the slider
You can power the Shark Slider Nano 2 via a Sony NPF battery. However, there is also a USB-C PD 60 W port on the slider for external power. If you use this port, you can power the slider, gimbal, and your camera with a single cable. In addition, iFootage makes an optional PD 140 W battery grip to deliver power to the USB-C port.
What we think

The Shark Slider Nano 2 is an exciting new development in the slider market. It only delivers up to 17 inches of travel, even with the long model. However, the ability to integrate your DJI gimbal is what makes the slider unique. You can program in complex and repeatable camera moves with up to eight keyframes. In addition, the AI tracking is ideal for content creators who need to move around or for when you need remote camera operation. If you already own a compatible DJI gimbal, the Shark Slider Nano 2 can open up a whole new world of movement.
Pricing and availability
iFootage says that the Shark Slider Nano 2 will be available by the end of November. The short version costs $649 and the long version costs $749.
