Four of Venus Optics’ most popular Laowa lenses are coming to L-mount. The lenses include two wide-angle lenses and two macro lenses.
The lenses coming to L-mount include the 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye, 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D, 24mm f/14 2X Macro Probe, and 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro. Currently, the lenses are available for Micro Four Thirds, Fuji X-mount, Sony E-mount and EOS-M. The Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens offers a 210-degree angle of view, while the 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D features a 113-degree angle of view and fast f/2.8 aperture. The 24mm f/14 2x Macro Probe is the first consumer-grade probe lens capable of focusing from macro to infinity. Lastly, the 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5X Ultra Macro can shoot between 2.5x and 5x life-size.
The two Laowa wide-angle lenses need to be in cropped mode
Unfortunately, the lenses must be in cropped mode during use. All of the latest L-mount cameras are full-frame. The Laowa fisheye is for Micro Four Thirds mounts. At the same time, 9mm Zero-D is an APS-C lens. If used with full-frame L-mount cameras, these lenses need to be in cropped mode.
Since the macro lenses are full-frame lenses, you don’t need to use them in cropped mode.
