Top accessory rentals for 2025

Despite the predominance of Canon cameras and lenses, it was the Sony NP-FZ100 battery that topped the top 20 for accessory rentals. Sony’s 160Gb and 320GB CFexpress type A TOUGH memory cards came in at number two and four as well. Batteries were also the most frequently rented Canon accessories, with the LP-E6NH in third place, and the LP-E6P in fifth place. Plus, Manfrotto had a tripod and two light stands in the top 20.

What we think

It’s important to bear in mind that Lensrentals supplies equipment to photographers as well as video makers. A chart for gear only hired for video might show different cameras in the top 20. However, it’s clear that Canon and Sony are leading the market by a long way with market shares of 26.51% and 21.66% respectively. Both of those numbers show a slight increase on the 2024 market shares as well. It’s also a long way down to the next brands with Nikon in third place on 5.56%, then DJI with 4.29%, followed by Blackmagic on 3.15%. Additionally, RED only had a market share of 1.11%, down from 2.03% in 2023. The dominance of Canon and Sony looks set to continue to strengthen in the future.
