This week at NAB, SmallHD is showing off an updated version of their FOCUS 5-inch field monitor, the FOCUS OLED. The new monitor offers full HD monitoring at 350 nit brightness with a 60,000:1 contrast ratio and can reproduce 105 percent of the NTSC color gamut for rich color monitoring.
A Familiar Interface
Like other SmallHD offerings, the new OLED monitor features touchscreen operation and a myriad of shot assist tools, including exposure assist, waveforms and vectorscopes, dual pictures and 3D LUT creation and preview.
Users can create presets and custom layouts using SmallHD OS3’s PageBuilder system, and even transfer those preferences to other FOCUS monitors via SD card. The SD card can also be used import and store pre-made LUTs and to capture and display screenshots for checking continuity.[image:blog_post:69427]
A Compact Form-Factor
The FOCUS OLED is powered by an L-Series battery and bi-directional barrel power input and output. It’s a bit heavier than the original FOCUS at 9 ounces, but the dimensions are similar at 3.45 inches x 5.54 inches x 0.77 inches. A wide viewing angle makes the monitor viewable across a 160-degree arc.
Priced at 699 dollars, the new SmallHD FOCUS OLED is available now. For more information, visit smallhd.com.
