Nab 2018: QNAP Delivers Inexpensive 10GbE Connectivity with the QSW-1208-8C Network Switch

QNAP claims that the its new QSW-1208-8C switch will be your first network switch. The QSW-1208-8C is a 12-port 10GbE unmanaged switch that allows you to upgrade your network for just 500 bucks.

Faster Speeds Using Existing Cables

The switch supports 10GBASE-T and NBASE-T standards, allowing for higher networks speeds with Cat 5e and 6a cables. Additionally, QNAP says that depending on the type cables your using and their length, “different speeds can be achieved for faster, more efficient data transfers.”

The QSW-1208-8C is also backwards compatible to provide connectivity with legacy devices.

Eight Combo Ports

A combination of 12 SFP+ ports and 8 combo RJ45 ports are offered for different interface connections on the QSW-1208-8C. The switching capacity of the QSW-1208-8C maxes out at 240 Gbps.

Quiet and Low Power Consuming Operation

QNAP says the QSW-1208-8C works quietly and supports IEEE 802.3az (EEE) to reduce power consumption without hurting performance.

“With its smart cooling system, the QSW-1208-8C works quietly to ensure high-speed network performance without generating distracting background noise,” says QNAP. “IEEE 802.3az (EEE) support also reduces power consumption without sacrificing performance or functionality. By dynamically detecting link speeds and activities and adjusting accordingly, the QSW-1208-8C provides energy savings of up to 50% to minimize lifetime operational costs.”
