MAGIX VEGAS Pro 14
MAGIX today released VEGAS Pro 14, the first new version since MAGIX officially acquired VEGAS Pro and the majority of products previously offered by Sony Creative Software three months ago. In conjunction with this release, Videomaker is giving away MAGIX VEGAS Pro 14 to one lucky reader.

The new version of VEGAS Pro aims to satisfy professional video editors with new codec support for HEVC/H.265 as well as native 10-bit ProRes support. VEGAS Pro 14 is now also capable of editing high frame rate (HFR) footage and adds support for modern RED cameras and AJA and Blackmagic Design hardware.

"We're very proud to release VEGAS Pro 14," said Gary Rebholz, Product Owner for the VEGAS software line, "but most importantly, we're humbled by the enthusiastic response from the user community. We've received a flood of emails and forum posts from users who want to see their favorite video editor thrive into the future. Based on this input, we've improved stability and added several key new features that make the software even more powerful. And we're not done yet," Gary continues. "With the user community as our guide, VEGAS Pro will become greater than ever."

New Smart Upscale and Smart Zoom features also allow for more flexible shot manipulation in post-production. MAGIX claims that Smart Upscale can be used to upscale HD footage to 4K resolutions while maintaining high image quality. Smart Zoom promises users the ability to crop in and reframe shots without diminishing the integrity of the footage. Keyframing tools even allow you to create animated zoom effects in post-production.

Other new features and improvements include a new vignette video effect plug-in and an increased clip velocity limit, raised from a maximum 300% to a new max of 1,000%, enabling fast motion at ten times normal speed, or 40 times when combined with the Clip Property Rate setting. Additionally, the new Hover Scrub tools are designed to help users review and select footage more quickly with the goal of speeding up the initial assembly process.

The new version also fixes over two dozens bugs from previous versions. MAGIX says these “cover a wide range of features and operations throughout the application and will help restore user confidence that VEGAS Pro will continue to provide a stable editing environment.”[image:blog_post:61931][image:blog_post:61930]

For added functionality, MAGIX VEGAS Pro 14 comes packaged with proDAD Mercalli V4 image stabilizations tools and NewBlueFX’s Titler Pro Express as well as DVD Architect for authoring and burning DVD’s and Blu-rays. The VEGAS Pro 14 Suite also includes a high-end plug-ins package from Boris FX.
