16×9 To Distribute New Zoe Controller for Panasonic AG-DVX100

Reprinted from a 16×9 press release:

16×9 Inc. presents a new version of the Zoe DVX by Bebob Engineering in Germany. The original Zoe remote lens control for Panasonic’s AG DVX-100 camcorder rapidly gained acclaim for its smooth stepless zoom and other professional functions. Today’s Zoe has been completely redesigned to retain the signature feel of the original, yet with a sleeker look, more user functions and lower price.

Encased in a streamlined injection-molded rugged polycarbonate housing, the new Zoe DVX clamps to the camera handle or tripod panhandle. Zoom control is via the innovative pressure-sensitive rocker switch, newly contoured for maximum thumb comfort and operating sensitivity. The unit also provides Record Start/Stop function.

Zoe DVX offers two separate methods of zoom operation. The pressure-sensitive pendulum rocker yields control of ramp-up and manipulation similar to the camera’s own zoom function.

In addition, the new Zoe incorporates the innovative PZB feature for push-button zoom start with stepless and independent preadjustment of Zoom-In and Zoom-Out speed. PZB speed may be pre-established via rotating selector wheels on either side of the unit. The stored speed is accessed via two selection buttons that activate the presets for wide-angle or telephoto positions. The new housing sports mechanical guards to protect against accidental repositioning. The PZB allows for an easing into the zoom and preset repeatability. It virtually eliminates the dead zone’ often associated with zoom controls.

Zoe’s proprietary software is designed to work with Panasonic’s protocols. Set-up is quick and easy. A new 11.8″ (30cm) coiled cable with rugged elbow plug connects to the Cam Remote on the AG DVX-100 and Zoe is ready to deliver smooth zooms. A quick-release clamp facilitates attachment to standard tripod arms up to 34mm in diameter.

The new Zoe DVX is priced complete at $299, with an introductory offer of $249 until June 31, 2004. It comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty. For more information, contact 16×9, Inc., 3403 West Pacific Avenue, Burbank, CA 91505, Phone: 818/972-2839, Fax: 818/972-2832.
