Introducing the latest camera in the acclaimed GH line: the LUMIX GH7. This new model builds on the strengths of its predecessors, bringing a host of features aimed squarely at video creators. Features like ARRI LogC3 lets your footage be graded alongside ARRI footage, making it a serious option as a B/Crash camera for cinema projects. Designed to tackle a variety of shooting scenarios with ease, the GH7 excels whether you’re capturing high-speed action or detailed close-ups. Its advanced technology and versatility can elevate your video production to the next level. Offering unlimited video recording time and 32-bit float audio capture, the GH7 makes high-quality capture much easier. And with its Camera to Cloud compatibility, the GH7 is a clear choice for video creators.
High-resolution, versatile video capture
Inside the LUMIX GH7 is a 25.2 MP BSI CMOS sensor. This sensor allows the GH7 to deliver 5.7K 30p ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes RAW HQ internal recording. Additionally, the camera can capture up to 5.8K open-gate footage in a 4:3 aspect ratio and offers 13+ stops of dynamic range. This dynamic range is particularly useful for capturing a wide range of tones and colors. The camera also supports Panasonic V-Log, providing more than 13+ stops of dynamic range for greater flexibility in post-production. Ultimately, the GH7 helps users capture high-quality footage with excellent detail and color fidelity.
The LUMIX GH7 also supports various video recording modes. It can record 4K video at up to 120 frames per second with sound, providing smooth slow-motion playback. For even higher frame rates, the camera can shoot Full HD 1080p video at up to 300 frames per second. The GH7 additionally has a new 1080/240P recording mode with audio, which offers flexibility for speed ramping and creative shots.
Advanced autofocus system
The GH7’s advanced autofocus system is a major upgrade from the previous model. It now features phase-detect autofocus (PDAF) for improved focus even in challenging conditions. The new subject detection mode enhances the camera’s ability to track human bodies, faces and eyes as well as animals and vehicles. These improvements aim to make capturing sharp, in-focus images easier than ever.
Enhanced image stabilization
LUMIX has improved the GH7’s Active I.S. technology with perspective distortion correction for videos. This addition helps maintain steady and smooth footage even when shooting handheld. Video producers will find this useful for a wide range of shooting scenarios.
Video-friendly design
LUMIX designed the GH7 with video producers in mind. Dual record buttons and a tally lamp make it easier to operate the camera. Plus, the camera’s tilt/fully articulated screen allows for flexible shooting angles for vloggers and solo shooters without obstructing ports. The GH7’s compact body and heat dissipation structure enable extended recording even when shooting at heavy loads (4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p, ProRes RAW HQ)
Color management
With the REAL TIME LUT application, you can apply color looks directly to your videos. This can save you time in post-production and help you achieve the desired aesthetic on set.
Additionally, the GH7 supports ARRI LogC3, offering access to the ARRI LUT Generator that makes setting up your project for TV, cinema or HDR an easy process. This access to the ARRI Look Library gives you more than 80 Hollywood-proven looks, allowing you to capture the same looks that many movies use. This makes the GH7 an excellent choice as a B-camera or crash cam for productions utilizing ARRI cameras and needing consistent color across multiple camera setups. You’ll need a DMW-SFU3A software upgrade key (sold separately) to make ARRI LogC3 available.
Connectivity and workflow
For remote video production, the GH7 is camera-to-cloud-ready with Frame.io integration, streamlining the production workflow. Having Frame.io integration helps keep uploading and sharing footage seamless, which ultimately speeds up the entire editing process.
The GH7 is the world’s first camera with 32-bit float recording when combined with the DMW-XLR2 (sold separately). Additionally, proxy recording is available. Combined with the REAL TIME LUT function, creators can share the LUT-applied file directly via Frame.io while being able to edit the original file after getting feedback.
