Overview
Designed for close-up shooting, the Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro is a short telephoto macro lens. It claims to offer a life-size, 1:1 maximum magnification along with an 11.8″ minimum focusing distance.
Design-wise, the lens uses a flat-field optical design. What does this do for it? It should make for more realistic rendering without field curvature. Users should also see more sharpness and clarity throughout the focusing range. Moving on, the atx-i 100mm also has a multi-layer coating to reduce lens flare and ghosting.
As for the 100mm macro lens’ optics, the lens features a One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism. This mechanism should allow users to quickly change between AF and MF settings. There’s also a focus range limiter switch, allowing the lens to focus faster.
