DJI has launched its latest action camera, the DJI Osmo Action 6. The Osmo Action 6 is the first action camera to feature a variable aperture and promises excellent low-light performance.
Variable aperture
One of the limitations of action cameras in the past has been that they use a fixed-aperture design. However, the DJI Osmo Action 6 features a variable aperture. It has a maximum aperture of f/2.0 but can close down to f/4.0. Although not a wide range, it does mean that the Osmo Action 6 can adjust exposure by up to a full stop. As a result, the camera delivers clear results from low-light night shots to bright, detailed landscapes.
Additionally, there is a Starburst mode that turns city lights into captivating starbursts for dramatic night scenes.
1/1.1-inch square sensor
The DJI Osmo Action 6 features an all-new 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensor with 2.4μm fused large pixels. It delivers up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range. A new 4K Custom mode also takes advantage of the new square sensor. You can shoot first and then crop into multiple aspect ratios later for the most flexibility. In addition, thanks to the larger sensor, larger aperture and new noise reduction technology, the Osmo Action 6 offers a SuperNight mode. This captures clear, detailed video even in challenging low-light conditions.
Video resolutions
This action camera supports super slow motion recording up to 120 frames per second (fps) in 4K and 2.7K. You can choose between aspect ratios of 4:3, 16:9 and 9:16. Alternatively, you can shoot at up to 240 fps in 1080 HD with aspect ratios of 16:9 and 9:16. The Osmo Action 6 can also intelligently generate up to 32x Super Slow Motion playback at 1080p by interpolating frames recorded at 240 fps. However, the 4K Custom and SuperNight modes are capped at 60 fps at all resolutions and aspect ratios.

Log recording
The DJI Osmo Action 6 can record video in DJI’s 10-bit D-Log M. This color profile preserves highlight and shadow detail for greater flexibility in post‑production. The camera also provides an on‑screen D‑Log M preview for real‑time color and exposure monitoring.
The Osmo Action 6 has 50 GB of built-in storage, and you can also use microSD cards up to 1TB.
Stabilization modes
The Osmo Action 6 supports DJI’s RockSteady 3.0, RockSteady 3.0+, HorizonBalancing and HorizonSteady stabilization modes. These features reduce camera shake and keep the horizon level. There’s also a 2x Lossless Zoom so you can zoom in up to 2x without compromising 4K quality.
Plus, you can customize your videos with six built-in film tones, and Portrait Mode optimizes exposure for true-to-life skin tones. Subject Centering and Tracking intelligently tracks the subject to keep it in the center of the frame as well.
Other features
The DJI Osmo Action 6 is waterproof up to 65 feet (20 meters) straight out of the box and up to 196 feet (60 meters) with the optional waterproof case. Its cold-resistant design also means you can use the camera in temperatures as low as -20° C. The Osmo Action 6 offers a four-hour battery life, and you can recharge it to 80% in just 22 minutes. In addition, you can connect two DJI microphone transmitters for high-quality audio without the need for a receiver. You can control the Osmo Action 6 with gesture control as well.
What we think
The Osmo Action 6 is another exciting camera from DJI. Its new sensor promises higher image quality and a greater choice of aspect ratios to meet the needs of all creators. You can also choose to shoot in D-Log to capture the most dynamic range and to offer the most flexibility in color grading.
The camera is robust enough to withstand many challenging environments without needing an additional case for protection. Whether you are looking to upgrade your existing setup or pick up your first action camera, the DJI Osmo Action 6 is a great choice.
