NewTek has just announced two new Spark Plus IO converters. These converters encode and decode video for use in an IP-based workflow.
The Spark Plus IO converters bypass the need for a capture card. According to NewTek, they’re designed to be ready with just one Ethernet cable. Additionally, a web-based interface allows for configuration and monitoring from desktop or mobile.
Both Sparks come with PoE, simple auto discovery, and tally light with NDI support.
Spark Plus IO 4K
The Spark Plus IO 4K delivers high bandwidth NDI at full 60p. This allows for the “lowest latency and highest quality” in and out over IP, according to NewTek. With the converter, you should be able to route NDI signals to TV screens or deliver a 4K signal into an NDI workflow.
Spark Plus IO SDI
The Spark Plus IO SDI encodes or decodes at rates up to 1080p 60 NDI for 3G-SDI. At the same time, it doesn’t disrupt the traditional SDI video infrastructure.
“Corporate video, esports, education and training, along with other advanced AV scenarios benefit greatly from the versatility of an NDI-based IP workflow,” said NewTek.
Compatibility
The Spark converters are compatible with a large number of systems, devices and applications that support NDI tech. Additionally, they pair with the NewTek TriCaster Mini 4K and TriCaster TC1.
Pricing and availability
The NewTek Spark Plus IO 4K and the NewTek Spark Plus IO SDI are out now. They are priced at $895 and $995, respectively.
