iZotope Dialogue Match saves hours in audio post-production

iZotope, two-time Emmy Award-winning software RX developers, has launched Dialogue Match. The software promises to complete hours of audio post work in seconds.

According to iZotope, Dialogue Match is the first tool to “automatically” learn and match the sonic character of dialogue recordings. Additionally, the company says it’s the first product to combine machine learning from iZotope with reverb technology from Exponential Audio’s product line.

Analyze, extract and apply

Re-recording mixers usually need some way to match dialogue from lavalier, boom mics and Automated Dialogue Replacement. They need a way to match audio between clips to keep scenes cohesive. Dialogue Match always uses to analyze audio to extract a sonic profile. Then it can apply the profile to any other dialogue track. The best part is that this should only take a few seconds, as opposed to a few hours. So, you should be able to save loads of time.

“Users who have tested Dialogue Match are telling us that it will change the way they approach dialogue editing forever,” said iZotope’s Senior Product Manager, Mike Rozett.

The tool can match tonal characteristics between a boom and a lavalier microphone. Furthermore, it can match localized audio to the original language and global snapshots. Finally, reference profiles can be saved or loaded.

Dialogue Match features

  • EQ Module: according to iZotope, the EQ Module uses the Q matching mechanics of iZotope’s Ozone 9 to learn and match the tonal and spectral characteristics of dialogue.
  • Reverb Module: Powered by machine learning tech, Reverb Module uses reverb matching to capture spatial reflections from one recording and apply them to another.
  • Ambience Module: Ambience Module analyzes the spectral noise profile of a recording, and identifies and re-creates room tone.

Pricing and availability

Dialogue Match is out now as a standalone AudioSuite Plugin for $599. It will be offered in a few bundles as well. Those consist of the Post Production Surround Reverb Bundle, RX 7 Advanced Reverb Bundle, and RX Post Production Suite 4. Those bundles will cost $1,199, $1,499, and $1999, respectively.
