After revamping its mobile app, Quik, GoPro announced this week the app now offers unlimited cloud backups to all subscribers at no extra cost. While this is already a significant update, there’s more to it.
At $10 for a year subscription at launch, the GoPro Quik app already offered a couple of tools that any mobile videographer would find helpful. These included filters, themes and various editing tools like exposure, contrast, color and vibrance. It also supported universal cloud storage for any camera, so you aren’t limited to GoPro’s catalog. Now, with unlimited storage, it sweetens the deal.
GoPro Quik offers more space for creators
Video and photo files can take up a lot of space on your phone, especially if you’re taking them for work. Quik could help you free up space on your phone. While you could use other cloud-storage applications like Google Drive, you might end up paying more in the long run. Google Drive offers only 15 GB of free storage; you have to shell out $10 a month for a terabyte of storage. With Google One, you can get more for your buck with 2TB of storage for $10 a month. However, for the same price, you get unlimited storage through GoPro Quik.
No limit on the quality
What’s great about the update is you can backup your videos and photos at full source quality. So, if anything happens to your source file, you can breathe easy knowing you have an exact copy in GoPro Quik.
Availability
Android users can get unlimited cloud backup in the GoPro Quik v8.11 update. Right now, the update is only available for Android users, but the feature will come to iOS soon.
