EIZO revealed two ColorEdge HDR monitors for video editing

Japanese manufacturer EIZO has introduced the first two flagship models in the new generation of their ColorEdge monitors. Both models have 27-inch screens and support a high dynamic range (HDR) workflow. They also have a brand-new cabinet design and a built-in network connection via USB-C.

Automatic calibration

The EIZO ColorEdge CG2700X monitor has a 4K UHD display (3840 x 2160), while the EIZO CG2700S model has a slightly lower resolution of 2K WQHD (2560 x 1440). Both monitors include EIZO’s award-winning built-in sensor technology. They also feature the ColorNavigator 7 color management software. This means you can calibrate the monitors automatically without needing a third-party calibration device. You can be confident that the screens will stay color-accurate over time.

HDR content

Both the EIZO ColorEdge CG2700X and EIZO CG2700S support hybrid log-gamma (HLG) and the perceptual quantization (PQ) curves. This means you can use them to display and edit HDR content. EIZO claims that the optimized gamma curves render images to appear truer to how the human eye perceives the real world compared to standard dynamic range screens. EIZO states that the monitors can reproduce 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. They can also display smooth gradations with a 10-bit simultaneous display from a 16-bit LUT. However, you will need a graphics card and software that supports 10-bit output to take advantage of this.

USB Type-C

The EIZO ColorEdge CG2700X and CG2700S have USB Type-C connectivity, so you can display video and transmit USB signals. They can also supply power to a connected tablet, an Apple MacBook Pro or a notebook PC. In addition, the monitors have a LAN port directly built-in for providing a stable network connection.

Sync signal

The EIZO ColorEdge CG2700X and CG2700S also include Sync Signal. The function automatically adjusts the monitor’s settings according to the video signal. This means that your color settings stay consistent throughout production.

Screen hood

The back of the EIZO ColorEdge CG2700X and EIZO CG2700S has a new punched metal design for improved airflow. This means that the monitors stay cool without needing a fan. Both monitors also feature a newly designed light-shielding hood. The lightweight hood attaches to the monitor magnetically for ease of fitting.

Uses

The EIZO ColorEdge CG2700X and EIZO CG2700S are ideal for editing and color grading. They can also be used for game development, photography, and other creative fields. They also come with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Pricing and availability

The EIZO ColorEdge CG2700X and EIZO CG2700S monitors will begin shipping from spring 2022.
