DJI has officially announced the DJI Mavic 4 Pro after it teased the release of the drone on YouTube last week. Its headline feature is a 100 MP Hasselblad sensor housed in an Infinity Gimbal with 360-degree rotation.
Triple camera system
The DJI Mavic 4 Pro has an advanced triple camera system offering focal lengths of 28mm, 70mm and 168mm. All three cameras also feature Dual Native ISO Fusion. This blends the benefits of high and low ISO settings and RAW stacking of up to five frames to deliver high-consistency image quality.
In addition, the Mavic 4 Pro introduces an innovative gimbal capable of full 360-degree rotation and 70-degree upward shots.
28mm main camera
The 28 mm main camera on the Mavic 4 Pro features a brand new 100 MP Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS sensor. It also supports the renowned Hasselblad Natural Color Solution (HNCS) to deliver exceptional color fidelity. The camera’s 100 MP images promise detail, sharpness, and offer high levels of flexibility in post-production. The camera also boasts an aperture range from f/2.0 to f/11, giving you options for clean low-light filming or 10-ray starburst effects.
70mm medium tele camera
Moving on to the next lens, the 70 mm medium tele camera on the Mavic 4 Pro features a 48 MP 1/1.3-inch sensor and an f/2.8 aperture. It’s the ideal focal length to give compressed perspectives for dynamic portraits and footage with orbital camera movements. It also features a new image processing engine that delivers enhanced image quality.
168mm tele camera
Last, we have the Mavic 4 Pro’s 168 mm tele camera. This camera features a 50 MP 1/1.5-inch sensor and a wide f/2.8 aperture. It also uses an optimized gimbal algorithm tailored for its telephoto optics. As a result, DJI says you get unparalleled image quality and stability in long-range aerial photography.
Additionally, when you combine the 168 mm lens with the drone’s Subject Focusing and you should be easily able to grab dramatic close-ups.
Video recording
All three of the Mavic 4 Pro’s cameras offer 4K HDR video recording up to 60 frames per second (fps). The Hasselblad main camera can shoot 6K HDR video up to 60 fps. For slow motion, the main and medium tele cameras support 120 fps in 4K, while the 168 mm camera records at 100 fps. The Hasselblad main camera also delivers a dynamic range of up to around 16 stops. The 70 mm camera has a dynamic range of 14 stops, and the 168 mm camera delivers 13 stops. All three cameras feature 10-bit D-Log, D-Log M and HLG color profiles.
Storage capacity
As standard, the Mavic 4 Pro comes with a 64 GB storage module. If you choose the Creator Combo option, that drone comes with a built-in 512 GB high-capacity storage. It also supports ALL-I 4:2:2 encoded video recording.
Plus, with DJI’s QuickTransfer, you don’t have to take the drone and controller out of the bag to transfer your footage. You can simply wake the Mavic 4 Pro remotely via the DJI Fly app and transfer files at speeds up to 80MB/s over Wi-Fi 6.
Safer flight
The Mavic 4 Pro features six high-performance, low-light fisheye sensors and dual processors. This gives the drone high-resolution environmental awareness. It also delivers omnidirectional obstacle avoidance at speeds up to 18 m/s in low light. This is ideal for flying in areas with poor satellite signals. The Mavic 4 Pro can utilize real-time vision positioning and map construction technologies to memorize flight paths in adequate light. This means the drone can return to home without GPS.
ActiveTrack 360°
The Mavic 4 Pro features ActiveTrack 360° which delivers cinematic tracking with enhanced stability even in low light. Once it starts tracking, the drone can also keep a subject in focus when they are partially obscured by bushes or if they are on a bridge. It can even detect vehicles up to 650 feet (200 meters) with directional awareness.
Other features
The Mavic 4 Pro has top speeds of up to around 55 mph (90 kph) and a range of over 25 miles (41 km). Its 95 Wh battery also delivers up to 51 minutes of flight time. The drone also features the DJI O4+ transmission system. This uses next-generation proprietary algorithms to enable ultra-long-range 10-bit HDR image transmission up to 18.6 miles (30 km). The system reduces the likelihood of disconnection in environments with high interference, such as urban areas, as well.
New remote
Along with the launch of the Mavic 4 Pro, DJI has also released a new remote controller. The DJI RC Pro 2 has a seven-inch high-bright Mini-LED display and a rotatable screen to sync with the drone’s gimbal for vertical shooting.
It also features an HDMI port. The enterprise-level multibeam high-gain antennas deliver ultra-reliable video transmission, and the RC Pro 2 powers on when you extend them. The controller offers a battery life of up to four hours, 128 GB of internal storage and a built-in mic that pairs with DJI Mic units for on-board audio.
240 W power adaptor
With the DJI Mavic 240 W Power Adapter, the Mavic 4 Pro Parallel Charging Hub fully charges one battery in around 50 minutes. It can additionally charge three batteries at the same time via the Mini SDC port. The Parallel Charging Hub boosts efficiency by prioritizing the battery with the lowest charge. When the batteries reach the same charge level, the Hub switches to parallel charging and will fully charge all three batteries in just 90 minutes. You can also use the Hub as a 100 W power bank to fast-charge phones and laptops on set.
What we think
With its triple camera system, the Mavic 4 Pro can capture a range of shots from expansive wide-angle landscapes to detailed telephoto close-ups. Combined with the 360-degree rotation of the gimbal, you can capture unique and dramatic video. The vehicle detection also makes it ideal for automotive cinematography. And the improved safety features and battery life mean you can fly for longer with more confidence. However, for U.S. customers, there is one big downside, and that’s that currently, DJI isn’t releasing the Mavic 4 Pro in America. This is partly due to issues with U.S. Customs stopping shipments, and partly due to President Trump’s tariffs. Hopefully, these difficulties can be overcome before too long. However, there have been reports of some U.S. sellers, such as B&H and Adorama, were accepting pre-orders for the drone. Now, they display the item is currently unavailable.
