Aputure INFINIMAT — the new inflatable lighting solution

This week at NAB, we’re taking a close look at the new Aputure INFINIMAT line of LED soft lights. These full-color, pixelated, IP65-rated lights even come with their own inflatable softboxes — a lightweight design that promises to make setup quick and easy.

What’s an INFINIMAT?

INFINIMAT panels come in sizes ranging from 1ft x 2ft up to a huge 20ft x 20ft. Each INFINITMAT light is paired with a corresponding inflatable softbox that attaches via a hook-and-loop system. Once inflated, the softbox supports the mat, the lighting control grid and the skirt all together for rigging on stands or overhead mounts. The resulting apparatus looks like a brilliantly backlit pool mattress.

In addition to the innovative design, the INFINIMAT lights feature full-color LED panels with expanded color controls. The lights can reproduce color temperatures from 2000K up to 10,000K with green-magenta adjustments. The lights cover more than 90% of the color in the Rec.2020 color space.

Versatile and adaptable

The INFINIMAT system is designed to be versatile and adaptable. With the ability to power and control multiple lights with one control box, it’s easy to use multiple INFINIMAT lights together — without a huge jumble of cables. In addition, their inflatable design allows for easier packing and transport, and their IP65 weather resistance rating means they can be used in less-than-ideal weather conditions.

For power, the INFINIMATS use a 1600W control box. As mentioned, a single control box can power multiple lights simultaneously, as long as the total power consumption doesn’t exceed the wattage of the box. The lights also feature industry-standard connection options like Sidus Link app control and DMX512, among others.

Pricing and availability for the Aputure INFINIMAT line is yet to be determined. To stay updated on release dates, or to learn more, head to aputure.com.
