Apple announces Apple Creator Studio software subscription

Apple has launched a new software subscription bundle. The Apple Creator Studio gives you access to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro on both Mac and iPad, and Motion, Compressor and MainStage on Mac. You also get intelligent features and premium content for Keynote, Pages, Numbers and later Freeform for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Video creation

Apple Creator Studio includes Final Cut Pro for Mac and iPad. Final Cut Pro delivers blazing-fast performance with Apple silicon so it can handle the most demanding workflows. You can use Transcript Search on Mac and iPad to find the ideal soundbite in your footage by simply typing phrases into the search bar. In addition, Beat Detection uses an AI model from Logic Pro to analyze a music track and display the Beat Grid. You can then align your cuts to the music for beat-driven videos. Montage Maker also uses AI to analyze your footage and create a dynamic video cut to a music track. Apple Creator Studio unlocks full access to Motion which is a motion graphics tool for creating cinematic 2D and 3D effects as well.

Music creation

Apple Creator Studio includes a new lineup of features for Logic Pro for Mac and iPad. Synth Player is part of the AI Session Player lineup and delivers electronic music performances with a diverse range of chordal and synth bass parts.

Additionally, Chord ID turns any audio or MIDI recording into a ready-to-use chord progression. There’s a new Sound Library in Logic Pro for Mac with hundreds of royalty-free loops, samples, instrument patches and drum sounds. Logic Pro for iPad users also now have access to Quick Swipe Comping, and natural language search in the Sound Browser with Music Understanding. Apple Creator Studio unlocks access to MainStage which turns your Mac into an instrument, voice processor or guitar rig as well.

Creative imaging

Apple Creator Studio includes Pixelmator Pro, the award-winning image editor for Mac. It also brings Pixelmator Pro to the iPad for the first time. You get an all-new touch-optimized workspace, full Apple Pencil support and the ability to work between iPad and Mac. Pixelmator Pro for iPad utilizes the blazing performance of Apple silicon and has been built from scratch for the latest iPadOS.

Plus, with the full-featured Layers sidebar, you can build designs using elements such as images, shapes, text and video. Apple Creator Studio includes a powerful new Warp tool for twisting and shaping layers on Pixelmator Pro for Mac and iPad as well.

Other features

Apple Creator Studio includes the Content Hub which is a new library full of curated, high-quality photos, graphics and illustrations. The subscription also unlocks new premium templates and themes in Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Super Resolution and Auto Crop also use on-device AI models to upscale images and provide intelligent crop suggestions.

And, Apple Creator Studio includes beta features to help you generate a first draft of a presentation from a text outline in Keynote and generate formulas and fill in tables based on pattern recognition in Numbers with Magic Fill. Importantly, Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform will remain free for all users to create, edit and collaborate with others, including Apple Creator Studio subscribers.

“Apple Creator Studio is a great value that enables creators of all types to pursue their craft and grow their skills by providing easy access to the most powerful and intuitive tools for video editing, music making, creative imaging, and visual productivity — all leveled up with advanced intelligent tools to augment and accelerate workflows,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “There’s never been a more flexible and accessible way to get started with such a powerful collection of creative apps for professionals, emerging artists, entrepreneurs, students, and educators to do their best work and explore their creative interests from start to finish.”

What we think

The launch of Apple Creator Studio is an interesting decision. If it is intended as a response to Adobe’s Creative Cloud package, then it’s long overdue. Creator Studio is also far more limited in its scope and range of included software than Adobe’s suite. However, Apple users will fear that the company has another motivation behind Creator Studio. Previously, programs such as Final Cut Pro were only available as one time purchases. Now Apple Creator Studio introduces a subscription pricing model for the first time. For now, you can still buy one-time-purchase versions of Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage. How long those options remain available must be a matter of concern for Apple users who want to avoid the commitment of an ongoing subscription.

Pricing and availability

Apple Creator Studio will be available from Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Subscription cost $13 per month or $129 per year.
