Angelbird has launched a new range of CFexpress v4 Type B memory cards. The Angelbird AV Pro SE CFexpress Type B cards offer capacities up to 4 TB and write speeds up to 3,500 MB/s.
Capacities
Angelbird is launching its new AV Pro SE CFexpress Type B memory cards in four capacities. You can choose between 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB. The cards all feature an advanced PCIe 4.0 interface for high-speed recording and rapid offloading. Angelbird says that the memory cards are built for data-intensive video and high-speed burst photo production up to 12K+ RAW and beyond.
Read speeds
The new Angelbird AV Pro SE CFexpress Type B memory cards all offer the same maximum read speed of 3,700 MB/s. They also promise a sustained read speed of 3,500 MB/s. However, the maximum write speeds vary depending on the capacity of the card.
Write speeds
The 512 GB card has a maximum write speed of 1,100 MB/s and a sustained write speed of 1050 MB/s. With the 1 TB card, you get improved figures of 2,300 MB/s for the maximum write speed and a sustained write speed of 2,100 MB/s.
If you want the best performance, you need to choose the 2 TB or 4 TB cards. These deliver a maximum write speed of 3,500 MB/s with a sustained write speed of 3,150 MB/s.
Stable Stream
With some memory cards, the performance isn’t consistent across the whole card. This means that as the card fills up, read and write speeds can be affected. However, Angelbird’s AV Pro SE CFexpress Type B memory cards feature the company’s Stable Stream technology. Angelbird says that this guarantees consistent recording performance across all modes and throughout the entire capacity of the card.
Durability
The Angelbird AV Pro SE CFexpress Type B memory cards are built to withstand the rigors of professional use. They feature active thermal protection to ensure safe operation in extreme environments and prevent the cards from overheating.
Angelbird also states that the cards can withstand temperatures ranging from -12°C to 72°C (10°F to 162°F). In addition, the AV Pro SE CFexpress Type B memory cards are moisture, dust, shock, x-ray, and magnetic proof.
What we think
As camera resolutions get higher, you need larger and faster memory cards to capture your video. Therefore, it’s good to see Angelbird launching this new range of CFexpress Type B cards. The new cards take advantage of the fastest CFexpress read and write speeds. They also come in the larger capacities that you need for longer shoots. If your camera uses CFexpress Type B cards, then Angelbird’s new range are worth checking out.
