Another leak has been published exposing the upcoming DJI Mavic 2. Unlike the last one, however, this one isn’t rumors. It’s from a UK retailer’s catalog.
A few weeks back, DroneDJ got ahold of a photo appearing to be the Mavic 2. Though it appeared to be legitimate, there were no reliable sources to back up all of DroneDJ’s claims. Now, another leak is out and it’s from Argos, a UK catalog retailer, that describes drones in great detail.
The leak wasn’t intentional on Argos part. DJI had plans for a press event on July 18th this month where the company most likely would have announced the Mavic 2. However, DJI postponed the event. Argos said in a statement that the catalog was printed before the event had been delayed.
So while the Mavic 2 isn’t officially confirmed by DJI, this is about as close as we can get to a real announcement.
Here’s what the Argos catalog revealed about the Mavic 2
According to the latest Argos catalog, the Mavic 2 will be just like the original. It will be small and feature a foldable design. Argos also reports there will be two different version of the drone: the Zoom and the Pro. Both versions are said to fly at up to 45 mph with a range of five miles.
Both editions of the Mavic 2 are said to have 360-degree collision detection and feature DJI’s Advanced Pilot Assistance System and Active Track 2.0. Also, both of their battery lives are reported to last up to 31 minutes! That’s a minute longer than the Mavic Pro Platinum.
The Mavic 2, according to Argos, will have a 1-inch CMOS Hasselblad camera. The Zoom model of the drone additionally has a 2x zoom lens — which is fitting considering its name.
However, Argos did not confirm if the unreleased drone gimbals are interchangeable. DroneDJ claimed that the gimbals on the drone were removable and were fairly confident in that claim. We guess we just have to wait and see.
Pricing and Availability
The price and release date still isn’t known. Though DJI hasn’t confirmed the existence of the Mavic 2 yet, it’s probable we’ll be seeing an announcement in the coming weeks since retailers are already preparing for the holiday season.
