DJI beefs up Ronin-S gimbal with 9 new accessories

DJI’s Ronin-S is an easy-to-use gimbal that already offered a bunch of fun-to-use and quality functions. But now, there are even more functions coming to the gimbal.

According to reports, there are nine new accessories being added to the Ronin-S. Most notable, DJI will be offering a $169 Focus Motor for manual focus lenses. Let’s take a look at what DJI’s just announced:

New Focus Motor

This accessory adds follow focus control for manual focus lenses. It uses a Rod Mount Set and Focus Gear Strip to control a number of different lens diameters. After it’s attached to the Ronin-S, the gimbal’s Focus Wheel reportedly can adjust the focus with .02 degrees of accuracy.

Command Unit

The Ronin-S is controlled by smartphone. However, if you don’t want to use your smartphone, you can now use the $129 Command Unit. The unit attaches to the side of the gimbal. From there, you can make setting changes using the unit’s small screen.

External GPS Module

DJI also unveiled a $69 External GPS Module. It’s said to improve stability if you need to do quick movements with the gimbal. It should also help keep the horizon line horizontal in your shot.

Universal Mount

The 169 Universal Mount allows you to branch out from the handheld shooting and use the Ronin-S with camera control systems, cranes and jibs, and — if you so chose — to mount the gimbal to your car. Additionally, it can power the Ronin-S with a separate dual battery mount.
