Videomaker is Giving Away an Azden SMX-30 Stereo/Mono Switchable Video Mic

Videomaker just launched a brand new giveaway and this time one lucky winner will receive an Azden SMX-30 Stereo/Mono Switchable Video Microphone! You can enter to win here.

The SMX-30 is a versatile camera-mounted mic that features both stereo and mono recording capabilities, giving you two microphones in one innovative housing. A simple switch toggles between the mic’s separate mono and stereo units to give you more flexibility in the field.

The SMX-30’s design allows you to select the supercardioid mono microphone when you need a camera-top shotgun mic for more directional sound recording, or switch to the stereo mic unit — a pair of capsules with cardioid pickup patterns — to capture the surrounding environment in a stereo image with 120 degrees of coverage.

In addition to its switchable design, the SMX-30 also features -10, 0 and +20 dB level adjustments, a -10 dB pad and a selectable 120 HZ low-cut filter, all designed to give you more control over unwanted noise and distortion. The mic also offers a frequency response of 40Hz to 20kHz for capturing natural sounding audio.

The SMX-30 operates using two AA batteries, and Azden promises 24 hours of continuous operation per battery set. The mic’s Auto power setting allows you to get even more out of your batteries by turning the mic on and off with your camera. The SMX-30 connects to your camera with an ?-inch mini-jack output and is mounted via an integrated shock-absorbing shoe mount. A foam windscreen is also included to combat wind noise.
