Professional photographers have long sought a camera bag that combines flexibility with secure positioning of their gear, while at the same time allowing for quick access. Ikigai’s Rival Backpack seeks to provide both along with a harness system to make wearing the backpack comfortable.
The Rival Backpack is the flagship model of Ikigai’s new family of interchangeable camera bags and is composed of a triple-density, honeycomb ripstop nylon that is both durable and striking to the eye. There are multiple access points, side pockets for convenient access to the contents and a detachable tripod carrying system, with ergonomically designed zippers, belts and straps. Protection of the contents is furthered by a detachable rain cover — providing protection against inclement weather and dust along with doubling as a ground sheet for insulating the gear (or the photographer’s knees) from the ground.
Designed for carrying a wide assortment of accessories as well as a pro DSLRs and lenses, the backpack features a removable and configurable camera cell for keeping gear safe through the addition of an impact-resistant lining. The camera cell also adds the ability to move its entire contents from one backpack to the next without having to remove or repack any of the gear.
"The strength of the Ikigai Rival Backpack comes from within," said J.B. Brunner, III, a founding member of Ikigai, adding that the removable aspect of the camera is unique in the industry and enables easier packing. Plus, added Brunner, “you don't have to lug the entire backpack around once you've arrived at your location.” Another founding member, Mark Green, points out that the Rival masterfully blends form and functionality: “It is designed for premium performance in the outdoor world, yet smart and sleek for a more professional look,” he says.
The Ikigai Rival backpack comes in two sizes: the version featuring a medium-sized camera cell retails for $299.99 and the large-sized camera cell retails for $349.99.
