Attention Videomaker readers! The Canon Vixia HF S10 has arrived in our offices and here is a brief review based upon our first look at this new exciting model from Canon.
Upon it’s arrival we decided to test some of it’s features to see if they are indeed as remarkable as Canon claims. For our first test we decided to take some shots in low-light conditions to see how well it performed. We found that it managed to hold up very well, and our shots looked very impressive. Be sure to grab yourself a VLC Player to check out our tests. Take a look at the footage here: Low-Light TEST
Another claim by Canon is that the HF S10 packs in 900 lines of resolution due to the inclusion of a 8.59 MP CMOS chip, and the DIGIC DV III processor, as well as allowing compression at AVCHDs upper limit of 24Mbps. We decided to shoot a resolution chart to check it out for ourselves. Our chart only went to 800 lines, but the camcorder hits that easily. Take a look here: Resolution TEST
Here are some more sample shots that we took to give all of our readers a glimpse of the video quality that can be captured with the Canon VIXIA HF S10:
So far the Canon HF S10 looks promising, but our final verdict will have to wait for our full review coming soon.
