One the most difficult things we've faced here in the editorial department lately is what constitutes a "camcorder"; at least one worthy of using for any serious (or even semi-serious) project where editing is required. We've tossed around notions that it must be capable of being manually focused, have at least a crude amount of exposure control, and perhaps have an external microphone jack. Well, when we see producers creating feature film length documentaries shot on cell phones…we wonder if we're being just a tad elitist.
