HP Introduces New PC Lineup, Many Include DVD Authoring

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 26, 2002 — Hewlett-Packard Company unveiled a variety of new desktop PCs from its Compaq Evo, Compaq Presario and HP Pavilion lines today at TechXNY 2002.

The products unveiled today represent the wide array of solutions the New HP is delivering to both commercial and consumer desktop customers, said Mike Larson, senior vice president and general manager at HP. From the industry's first DVD+R optical drives to space-saving business PCs, these new products continue to provide customers with the high level of performance and innovation expected from HP.

HP Pavilion Home Desktop PC Summer Lineup Power to the consumer
HP continues to lead the charge with DVD recordable technology with the introduction of the HP Pavilion 772N home desktop PC. HP's newest DVD recordable drive the HP dvd200i DVD+RW/+R drive with write-once functionality, will be available in the new PC, priced at $1,449 and which hits retail shelves in July.

Below includes detailed features for three of the PCs included with HP's new summer 2002 line:
The HP Pavilion 792N is powered by an Intel PentiumTM 4 2.4GHz processor and includes 512MB DDR RAM, a 120GB hard-disk drive, HP DVD+RW/+R drive, DVD-ROM drive, 64MB SDRAM GeForce4 MX420LC graphics card, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394 and 10/100 Base-T network interface. The estimated U.S. street price is $1,799. Available in July.

The HP Pavilion 772N is powered by an Intel Pentium 4 2.26GHz processor and includes 512MB DDR RAM, an 80GB hard-disk drive, HP DVD+RW/+R drive, CD-ROM drive, 32MB DDR GeForce4 MX420LC graphics card, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394 and 10/100 Base-T network interface. The estimated U.S. street price is $1,449. Available in July.

The HP Pavilion 522N is powered by an Intel CeleronTM 1.8GHz processor and includes 256MB DDR RAM, a 60GB hard-disk drive, HP CD-RW drive, DVD-ROM drive, USB 2.0 and 10/100 Base-T network interface. The estimated U.S. street price is $799. Available this week.

New Configure-to-Order Compaq Presario Desktop PCs
Starting next month, Compaq Presario Desktop customers will also be able to configure the sleek Presario 6000 and powerful Presario 8000 Desktop PCs with DVD+RW/+R and CD-RW combo drives for just $1029. The new DVD format expands the flexibility of creating DVD videos or data disc.

Compaq Presario Home Desktop PCs with DVD+RW/+R and CD-RW combo drives are bundled with the MyMovieSTUDIO home movie-making solution that features an easy-access front IEEE-1394 port and Sonic's MyDVD Video Suite software. The MyDVD Video Suite allows users to record digital video directly to a DVD or Video CD and to re-edit from previously recorded DVD or Video CD. The latest Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3 software is also included for music and data burning for a complete DVD recording experience.

Compaq Evo D510 e-pc Minimal size, maximum simplicity
Unveiled as the newest addition to the Evo Commercial Desktop line at TechXNY this week is the simple and affordable new Evo D510 e-pc. Small enough to fit in a desk drawer and light enough to mount on the wall or under a desk, the Evo D510 e-pc leverages the original HP design to maximize space and blend seamlessly into the user's environment.

Available later this summer in either Intel Celeron or Pentium 4 with 845G chipset configurations, the new legacy-free Evo D510 e-pc can also share a common image with other D500 series models with same chipset for simplified IT management. And the new tool-less entry design allows quick and easy access to internal parts for simple upgrade and repair.

Availability
HP's summer 2002 line of HP Pavilion home PCs are available beginning this week at consumer electronics and computer superstores nationwide as well as direct from HP via www.hpshopping.com or HP's retail kiosks. Consumers can also customize their own PC through HP's configure-to-order program via www.hpshopping.com.

The new Compaq Presario 6000 and 8000 Desktop PCs will be available in July direct from HP at www.compaq.com, or in Built for You kiosks located in thousands of retail stores throughout the US. The Compaq Evo D510 e-pc will be available by end of summer, direct from HP or from an authorized reseller.
