Fremont, CA—-February 7, 2002—-CyberLink Corp., a leading software developer of digital video entertainment applications and e-Training solutions, today proudly ushers in its latest software advancements with the launch of PowerDirector 2.0 Pro and Standard. PowerDirector 2.0 Pro not only improves upon the previous version’s award-winning video capture and editing capabilities, but through the new easy-to-use wizard-style authoring and burning guide, now also offers users the ability to make custom movies and photo slideshows on discs playable from any consumer DVD player.
The Pro edition of PowerDirector 2.0 offers a newly enhanced, advanced video editing engine, slick special effects and an improved, simple-to-use storyboard interface allowing users of any level to create compelling videos quickly and easily. PowerDirector can capture video from DV and analog sources, perform high-quality digital file conversion and output finished movie productions into the latest file formats or back to DV tape. Plus, with a new automatic scene detection feature and the ability to instantly create movie chapters, PowerDirector can transform digital images and video footage from camcorders into polished multimedia slideshows and professional-looking home movies on CDs and DVDs.
“PowerDirector 2.0 Pro offers a simple step-by-step process to assemble video clips on the PC, transform them into a compelling movie production, and then quickly output the final creation in formats suited for sharing on CDs and DVDs,” says Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corporation. “Consumers now have a complete, turnkey solution for creating movies on CDs and DVDs whereby previously users needed advanced skills and multiple software applications. Users no longer have to deal with the complexity of capturing, editing, authoring and burning with PowerDirector 2.0 Pro, which handles all of these jobs to make working with digital video a painless, and entertaining process.”
PowerDirector 2.0 Pro and Standard editions are two unique packages with different benefits for video novices and movie making enthusiasts alike. The Pro version includes the complete set of video capture and editing tools from PowerDirector 2.0, plus a unique Disc Wizard that eliminates the complexity of authoring and burning DVD videos. Now adding an interactive DVD menu, creating chapters and adding photo slideshows is a simple affair. Users can even add background audio and apply templates to interactive menus that allow viewers to jump to chapters created on movie productions outputted in DVD, VideoCD or Super Video CD formats. Furthermore PowerDirector’s disc making functions fully support CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW and DVD+RW disc media.
For users without Recordable-DVD/CD drives, the Standard edition packages all of the flexible video capture and editing functions of PowerDirector 2.0, but without the Disc Making Wizard providing authoring and burning capabilities. PowerDirector 2.0 offers an advanced level of speed and simplicity in video editing software with SVRT (Smart Video Rendering Technology) and InstantMPEG technologies. Additionally this new version is able to encode video in all the major file formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, WMV, Windows AVI, DV-AVI, DVD/SVCD/VCD), perform high-quality video transfer and output finished video productions with minimal CPU power requirements.
