LAS VEGAS–April 10, 2000–Media 100 Inc. (NASDAQ: MDEA), the
pioneer of streaming media production tools, today announced
MediaPress(TM) Suite, bringing real-time MPEG capability to Media 100
users. MediaPress Suite, developed by Media 100’s Wired subsidiary,
enables real-time MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoding, real-time preview during
encode, and real-time MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DVD playback. The MediaPress
Suite also includes the ability to transcode QuickTime(R) files to
MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 and supports multiplexed audio and video. MediaPress
Suite accelerates the compression workflow while giving content
creators the highest quality MPEG files to be used in DVD creation or
Internet streaming.
MediaPress Suite supports Composite, S-video and Component video
input. MediaPress Suite SDI is also available, which adds support for
Serial Digital Interface (SDI) as well as AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital
audio. MediaPress Suite can be configured in a stand-alone
encoding/authoring system and connected via YUV or SDI to the Media
100 streaming media production system for real-time performance or in
the same system as a Media 100 to achieve accelerated encoding.
“Integration of MediaPress Suite with Media 100 is the first of
many benefits to come as a result of the acquisition of Wired by Media
100,” said Caren Anhder, product line manager for Media 100.
“MediaPress Suite offers a huge advantage to Media 100 customers, with
encoding speeds up to 50 times faster than software only solutions.
MediaPress Suite can encode elementary or multiplexed streams, CBR
(Constant Bitrate) or VBR (Variable Bitrate) and allows for viewing of
results during the encoding process, at a significantly lower cost
than other solutions currently available on the market.”
The high-quality content created with the Media 100 and MediaPress
Suite solution is a perfect match for industry leading DVD authoring
tools, like those from Astarte and Sonic Solutions.
“MediaPress Suite is the perfect solution for Media 100 users
looking to convert their video content to MPEG-2,” said Mark Ely,
Director of Product Marketing for Sonic Solutions. “Combined with a
DVD authoring solution like Sonic DVD Fusion, MediaPress Suite turns a
Media 100 system into a DVD publishing workstation.”
MediaPress Suite SDI is available at an introductory price of
$5,499, MediaPress Suite YUV is available at an introductory price of
$3,999. Both products are currently available for the Macintosh
platform. For existing owners of MediaPress Pro, MediaPress Preview is
available as a separate component, which includes WiredStream and
software activation for real-time preview for $699.00.
