Telestream has launched the latest version of its live video streaming and production software, Wirecast. One major feature of the new release is an AI-powered Virtual Assistant.
What is Wirecast?
Wirecast is industry-leading software for live video streaming and production. It gives you unlimited camera inputs and integrates with PTZ cameras and control surfaces. In addition, the Studio version of the software allows for two remote guests while the Pro version gives you up to seven. The software supports multi-streaming with presets for most platforms including YouTube, Facebook and RTMP. It also features chromakey, animated graphics, and overlays, as well as over 500,000 stock media assets.
Virtual Assistant
Wirecast 16.0 now features a Virtual Assistant powered by generative AI. The new feature provides real-time feature walkthroughs, technical advice, and tailored troubleshooting in multiple languages. Simon Clarke, Telestream CTO, said, “We’re really excited about the new AI element of Wirecast and the rapid responses it offers users. Questions take seconds to answer, and we believe that Wirecast customers will enjoy the personalized approach of the new Virtual Assistant service”.
Other new features
Wirecast 16.0 also adds support for custom LUTs (Look-Up Tables) to customize your video live streams. You can also have fun with the look of your streams by using the new Video Filters feature. With Document Locking you can lock Wirecast layers, the Preview window, or the Shot Editor. This prevents unintentional changes during live screencasts. In addition, you can ensure that you deliver the best quality and low latency video with SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) Source. The software’s hardware-accelerated NVENC encoder for SRT output decreases CPU usage to give a smoother streaming experience.
What we think
Wirecast is a powerful live video streaming and production software solution. It’s also very customizable. However, as with other advanced software, users often don’t take advantage of all the features that are available. Telestream says that the Virtual Assistant is like a Wirecast expert, available anytime, quickly answering your questions so you can enhance your work. Hopefully, the AI-powered feature will mean that users of all abilities can take their live streaming with Wirecast to new levels.
