Ulanzi announces new VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod

Ulanzi has announced a new tripod suitable for larger cameras and cinema cameras. The Ulanzi VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod is available with either a carbon fiber or aluminum alloy construction.

Heavy duty tripod

Ulanzi’s new VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod is ideal for anyone who wants a sturdy base for their camera rig. The carbon fiber model weighs 10.5 pounds (4.8 kg) while the aluminum alloy version is even heavier at 11.6 pounds (5.3 kg). Usefully, the tripod also has a built-in carrying handle which makes it much easier to transport between setups. The VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod features interchangeable nonslip rubber feet and steel spikes. This is great for ensuring the tripod stays in place on different terrains.

Load capacity

The VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod is built to support larger camera rigs and cinema cameras. The tripod’s fluid head has a load capacity of up to 22 pounds (10 kg), which should be suitable for all but the heaviest cameras. In addition, Ulanzi says that the legs have a load capacity of up to 55 pounds (25 kg) should you want to upgrade the head in the future. There’s also a five-step, mid-level spreader for additional stability.

Easy height adjustment

This tripod has a height range from 30.9 inches (78.5 cm) up to 64.5 inches (164 cm). It also features One-Touch Height Adjustment so you can easily set up your shot with a single-touch height lock. The built-in handle helps again here as well. In addition, you can individually adjust the height of each leg as needed when working on uneven ground. Folded for carrying, the VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod measures 32.6 inches (83 cm).

Fluid head

The VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod has an aluminum alloy fluid head. With a standard 75 mm bowl base and a built-in bubble level, you can quickly and easily level off your shots. The tripod head also has six steps of pan and tile adjustment, as well as 10 steps of counterbalance adjustment. In addition, the fluid head uses a standard Manfrotto-compatible quick-release plate. With standard ARRI rosettes on each side of the fluid head, you can easily switch between left and right-handed use as well.

What we think

Ulanzi’s VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod offers a great set of features for a reasonable price. While lighter tripods can be an attractive prospect to carry around all day, they are more prone to shake, especially when it’s windy. The VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod has the weight and build to help ensure stable footage even in less-than-ideal conditions. In addition, the pan, tilt and counterbalance adjustments on the fluid head mean you can compensate for different camera weights. If you are looking to upgrade your sticks, the Ulanzi VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod is worth checking out.

Availability

The Ulanzi VideoFast Heavy Duty tripod is available for preorder now with shipping expected from April 8, 2024. The carbon fiber tripod with fluid head retails at $599 while the aluminum alloy model costs $499, again with the fluid head. However, if you pre-order before April 8th you can save $100 on those prices.
