The Maono PD200W dynamic microphone offers XLR, USB and wireless connectivity

Maono announced its latest dynamic microphone for podcasters and content creators. You can connect the Maono PD200W wirelessly, via XLR or USB.

Design

The Maono PD200W dynamic microphone has an all-metal design and comes with a windscreen and shock mount. It has a mute button on top for easy access. There’s also a mic gain and headphone volume dial. The 3.5 mm headphone jack is on the back, along with the USB and XLR inputs, and a power button. Additionally, the PD200W features programmable RGB lights for when the microphone is on camera.

30mm dynamic capsule

The PD200W microphone uses a 30 mm dynamic capsule with a cardioid polar pickup pattern. This delivers 48 kHz 24-bit resolution audio and a signal-to-noise ratio of 82 dB. The PD200W also has a 128dB max SPL (sound pressure level) for low-distortion recordings.

In addition, the microphone offers dual-channel stereo recording. This means that you can record two subjects separately, one on the left channel and one on the right channel.

Triple-mode connectivity

Maono describes the PD200W as featuring hybrid triple-mode connectivity. It offers plug-and-play 2.4 GHz wireless transmission that doesn’t need any drivers or setup. This means you can position the PD200W where you need it without worrying about cables. With a range of up to 164 feet (50 meters), you have a lot of freedom to move around. Also, you have the choice to use a wired USB to connect to a smartphone or the XLR connection for a more established studio setup.

Battery life

The microphone’s battery also lasts up to 60 hours from a single charge, so it can easily cope with long recording sessions. However, using the RGB lights reduces this run time to 38 hours.

What we think

The Maono PD200W dynamic microphone is a great option for someone starting out in content creation. It promises high-quality audio along with the versatile triple-mode connectivity. Many users will be happy with the ease of use and flexibility in positioning offered by the wireless connection. However, the option to use professional XLR or USB means that the PD200W can adapt as your needs change. And the dual-channel stereo recording makes it easier to record two voices with just one microphone. If you are looking for a new microphone for your podcast or other studio-based recordings, the Maono PD200W should be on your shortlist.

Pricing and availability

The Maono PD200W dynamic microphone will go on sale in November with prices starting at $99.
