Antigravity has launched a new drone, the Antigravity A1. The company says that the Antigravity A1 is the world’s first all-in-one 8K 360 drone.
Vision Goggles
Unlike traditional drones, the Antigravity A1 relies on a headset-first configuration. As a result, the Vision Goggles are a vital component of the experience, rather than just being an accessory. The Vision Goggles feature industry-leading Pancake optics and dual one-inch 2560×2560 resolution Micro-OLED displays.
In addition, the goggles mirror your head movement in real-time. Antigravity says that pairing the Vision Goggles with the Grip controller creates a seamless interface and delivers a truly immersive experience of the sensation of flight.
Immersive flight
Antigravity says that it has designed the A1 drone system to be intuitive right from the first flight. The Grip controller’s FreeMotion Mode translates your hand movements into precise flight paths. This means that you can steer the drone simply by pointing the controller. As a result, Antigravity says that the “point-to-fly” simplicity makes A1 significantly easier to control than traditional dual-stick drone set-ups. However, there is also an FPV Mode if you prefer the traditional control dynamics.

8K 360 video
The Antigravity A1 features a dual lens 1/1.28-inch sensor. This can capture 360-degree video at up to 30 frames per second (fps) in 8K, 60 fps in 5.2K or 100 fps in 4K. The 360 camera captures the entire environment during a flight without the need to adjust a gimbal. As a result, Antigravity says that you can “fly first” and “frame later.” This means that you can choose the perspective of your video in the edit, adding pans or tracking a subject. Also, the A1 offers FlowState Stabilization, so your videos are always smooth and steady.
Under 250 g
The Antigravity A1 weighs 249 g with the standard battery. This means that you don’t need to register in most countries if you aren’t using your drone for commercial purposes. The standard A1 drone battery gives you up to 24 minutes of flight time. You can also pick up an optional high-capacity battery that lasts up to 39 minutes.
Additionally, the A1 features a retractable landing gear system. This protects the bottom of the drone’s lens during take-off but delivers an unobstructed view in flight for invisible-drone shots.
Sky Path
With the new Sky Path system, you can design, save and automate complex flight routes. Once you have set your path, the A1 can fly by itself, following the route you chose. You can also repeat the same flight path over and over, so you can show a route at different times of the day or year.
While the A1 follows your Sky Path, anyone can wear the Vision Goggles for a flight experience without the need to control the drone.
Intelligent flight tools
The Antigravity A1 comes with a set of intelligent flight tools, so that you can capture great videos from the outset. With Sky Genie, you can execute moves including Orbit, Spiral and Comet for dramatic and exciting footage. Deep Track will also lock onto your subject and keep your target centered automatically. Also, Virtual Cockpit uses an immersive overlay so you can fly a dragon in real time. Antigravity has promised that more skins will be released in the future as well.
What we think
The Antigravity A1 is an exciting new addition to the drone world. Capturing 8K 360-degree video means that you can choose any camera angle from your flight during post-production. You won’t need to worry about pointing the camera at a specific point while the drone is in the air. The Sky Path automated flight system is also a great way to create an eye-catching video, such as showing the changing of the seasons at a particular location.
In addition, Sky Path means that non-pilots can experience drone flight without having to be in control of the A1. The Antigravity A1 could open up a whole new world of drone users.
Pricing and availability
The Antigravity A1 360 drone is available now. Pricing starts at $1,599 for the Standard bundle that includes the Vision Goggles and the Grip controller.
