Synology has announced the launch of two new models in its DiskStation range of desktop storage. The Synology DS725+ offers two drive bays while the Synology DS1825+ is an 8-bay solution.
DS1825+
The DiskStation DS1825+ features eight drive bays and is equipped with dual 2.5 GbE ports. It offers two M.2 NVMe slots and supports SSD caching or the creation of an all-flash storage pool. There’s also a PCIe 3.0 expansion slot for an optional 10/25 GbE network upgrade. The DS1825+ delivers up to 2,239 MB/s read and 1,573 MB/s write performance when you use SSDs. Plus, you can boost your total storage to 360 TB by adding two 5-bay DX525 expansion units to the DS1825+.
DS725+
The DiskStation DS725+ is a compact device with two drive bays. It also features a 2.5 GbE port, a 1 GbE port, and dual M.2 NVMe slots for SSD cache or high-speed storage.
Additionally, you can expand the DS725+ with one DX525 unit for up to 140 TB of raw storage.
DiskStation Manager
The DiskStation DS725+ and DS1825+ are optimized for performance and long-term reliability with Synology hard drives. The carefully curated compatibility list also ensures tight integration, backed by over 7,000 hours of testing. Running Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), both devices offer a wide range of powerful data management features. These include Synology Drive, which turns each system into a private cloud, and Active Backup Suite. Also, Surveillance Station offers scalable video management and real-time analytics to secure physical environments.

Synology’s new DiskStation models are high-speed and scalable storage solutions. The larger DS1825+ delivers business-grade performance, scalability and reliability. Alternatively, the more compact DS725+ brings those same features to smaller businesses and home offices. In addition, the option to expand both systems with the DX525 unit means they can continue to meet your storage needs as they grow. If you are looking for a high-quality desktop storage solution, the DiskStation DS725+ and DS1825+ should be on your shortlist.
