Shure has announced the new Shure MoveMic 88+ wireless stereo microphone. The company says it is the first-of-its-kind wireless direct-to-phone stereo microphone with selectable polar patterns.
Wireless microphone
The microphone can be paired directly with a mobile phone via the Shure MOTIV apps. This means that you can record directly to your smartphone from the microphone. Alternatively, you can pair the MoveMic 88+ to the MoveMic Receiver. You can then connect the MoveMic Receiver to your camera or computer via USB-C or 3.5mm cable. In addition, you can use a third party app on your mobile phone when you use the MoveMic Receiver.
Selectable polar patterns
The Shure MoveMic 88+ has four selectable polar patterns, so you can customize the direction of audio capture. You can choose between stereo, cardioid, bi-directional and raw mid-side modes, meaning that you can optimize the MoveMic 88+ to suit your recording scenario, from two-way interviews, recording in the field and even acoustic performances.
Customizable DSP
You can fine tune your audio recordings via the Shure MOTIV apps or MoveMic Receiver. These give you control over gain and EQ. You can also access presets and a high pass filter, as well as mute and noise reduction controls.
Mounting options
You can attach the MoveMic 88+ to most popular tripods or mic stands using the two included 5/8-inch or cold shoe mic clips. Alternatively, you can use it as a handheld microphone.
Other features
The MoveMic 88+ has a wireless range of up to 100 feet (30 meters). You also get a battery life of up to eight hours and USB-C charging. In addition, the device features built-in headphone monitoring.
MOTIV video app
The Shure MOTIV video app has tools for video recording or livestreaming. You can record directly within the MOTIV Video app. You can also livestream to YouTube, Facebook or any other livestream platform using a URL and stream key.
