ProMaster launches new nine-inch RGB tube light

ProMaster has launched a new nine-inch LED tube light. The ProMaster Chroma TL9RGB 9″ Tube LED Light is a full-color RGB light with a built-in battery for portable use.

Design

The Chroma TL9RGB LED tube light has a curved diffusion panel and elongated design, giving a beam angle of 120 degrees. ProMaster says this creates beautiful wrap-around illumination, especially when placed close to the subject. The tube light measures nine inches (22.9 cm) by 19/16 inches (four cm) by 13/4 inches (4.4 cm). So, it’s compact enough to hide on set. The Chroma TL9RGB is also a lightweight fixture, weighing around 71/2 ounces (211 g). This means it won’t add much weight to your camera bag.

RGB color

The Chroma TL9RGB tube light has a TLCI rating of over 98 and a CRI rating of over 95. The light also has three output modes: RGB, bi-color (CCT) and Special Effects. In RGB mode, you can choose from 360 colors with a saturation range of 0 – 100% for each. Bi-color mode offers a color temperature range from 2500K to 8500K. In addition, there are 19 options to choose from in the Special Effects mode.

Output

The Chroma TL9RGB LED tube light will output a maximum of 600 lux at 1.64 feet (0.5 meters). That figure is measured with the light set to 5,600K and 100% brightness in bi-color mode. At the same settings, you will get 150 lux at 3.28 feet (one meter) and 27 lux at 9.84 feet (three meters). The Chroma TL9RGB also features an internal rechargeable battery. ProMaster says that the light will run for 65 minutes at full power, measured at 5,600K and 100% brightness, in bi-color mode. Runtime will be even longer at lower output settings.

Other features

The Chroma TL9RGB LED tube light has a built-in magnet, so you can attach it to metal surfaces. There is also a 1/4-20 threaded port on each end of the tube so you can mount it a tripod, light stand or flex arm. In addition, there is a USB-C port for recharging the light. You can control the Chroma TL9RGB wirelessly with the Light Attendant app.

What we think

The ProMaster Chroma TL9RGB LED tube light delivers a lot of features at a very affordable price. It’s not bright enough to be used as a key light or fill light on a large set. However, it could be used for a close-up or product shot. It’s also easy to hide away on set for great accent lighting. In addition, it’s small enough to pop in your camera bag so it’s always on hand. Another great feature is the option to control the Chroma TL9RGB with the Light Attendant app. This means you can integrate the tube with other lights in the ProMaster ecosystem. If you are looking for an inexpensive RGB tube light, you can check out the ProMaster Chroma TL9RGB.

Pricing and availability

The ProMaster Chroma TL9RGB LED tube light is available now and retails at $59.95.
