New from Other World Computing (OWC), the OWC Express 4M2 Ultra is a customizable NVMe RAID setup with Thunderbolt 5 connectivity.
Fast, flexible, expandable
With transfer rates up to 6622 MB/s, the OWC Express 4M2 is fast enough to support video editing in resolutions up to 12K RAW. The zippy Thunderbolt 5 connection can even support 8K multi-cam sequences.
The OWC Express 4M2 Ultra has space for four M.2 2280 or 2242 NVMe SSDs. Fully outfitted, the Express 4M2 Ultra can store up to 32 TB of data. That sounds like plenty, but modern high-res video footage loves to chew through storage capacity.
If 32 TB isn’t enough, multiple Express 4M2 Ultras can daisy-chain together to create a single massive storage volume. The expandable system maxes out at 128 TB with available drives. However, OWC promises the system is future-ready and can be upgraded with faster, larger drives anytime.
The OWC Express 4M2 Ultra supports a range of RAID configurations, including RAID 0, 1, 4, 5, 10 and JBOD. RAID settings can be managed through SoftRAID or another RAID utility of your choice, giving the system lots of flexibility to suit different storage needs.
Express 4M2 Ultra extras
The Express 4M2 Ultra features a solid aluminum housing and an adaptive fan that OWC promises is quiet yet effective. This new RAID enclosure is compatible with Thunderbolt 5, 4 and USB4 Macs and PCs as well as Thunderbolt 3 Macs. It also features a second Thunderbolt port for connecting up to five additional Thunderbolt devices plus one USB peripheral.
