Insta360 launches new Link 2 series AI-powered 4K webcams

Insta360 has launched two new AI-powered webcams. The Insta360 Link 2 and Link 2C promise 4K imaging and crystal-clear audio.

Video shooting

The Insta360 Link 2 and Link2C webcams feature the same high-performance ½-inch sensor. This is a larger sensor than those found in typical webcams. A larger sensor can also capture more light and more detail, making it more suited for use in poorly lit spaces. In addition, the Link 2 and Link 2C use advanced HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology and the latest AI image enhancement and noise reduction. This improves dynamic range and delivers a greater balance between highlights and shadows.

The Link 2 and Link2C webcams both deliver 4K video up to 30 fps, or 1080p and 720p video up to 60 fps. You can also shoot uncropped 4K vertical video with these same resolutions and frame rates in portrait mode. In addition, Insta360 says that the webcams can replicate a near DSLR-like depth of field, with a natural bokeh effect for your surroundings. The Link 2 and Link 2C feature True Focus which uses faster, more accurate Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) so you don’t need to worry about blurry shots.

Two-axis gimbal

The main difference between the two webcams is that the Link 2 features a built-in two-axis gimbal. This delivers stabilized footage and uses AI-powered tracking to keep you in frame. The Link 2C offers the same 4K image quality and AI features in a compact, gimbal-free design. Both webcams also come with a new Magnetic Mount to make setup easy. You can snap the camera onto a monitor or any magnetic surface for quick and easy positioning.

AI-powered control

The Link 2 and Link 2C webcams feature AI Tracking and Auto Framing. This means that you can move around, and the camera will keep you perfectly centered in the frame. There’s also a new Group Tracking option which ensures that neither you nor your partner take up too much of the frame if you’re co-hosting. With the Link 2, you can set Pause-Track Areas so the camera recognizes areas where it shouldn’t track you. In addition, both the Link 2 and Link 2C use gesture control so you can trigger actions like starting or stopping AI Tracking or zooming in and out, with simple hand gestures.

AI-noise reduction

The Link 2 and Link 2C both use state-of-the-art AI noise reduction technology to deliver high-quality, professional audio. Powered by advanced algorithms, the webcams also filter out unwanted sounds like keyboard clicks, nearby conversations or traffic noise. This ensures that your voice comes through loud and clear even in noisy environments. In addition, the Link 2 and Link 2C come with three unique profiles to tailor to your environment. You can choose between Voice Focus, Voice Suppression and Music Balance to optimize your audio.

What we think

The Insta 360 Link 2 and Link 2C webcams pack a lot of features into a compact design. The larger sensors and Phase Detection Autofocus processing promise a DSLR or mirrorless camera-like performance with the much simpler setup of a webcam. The two-axis gimbal on the Link 2 model should also make the subject tracking much smoother. In addition, with the use of AI noise reduction technology, the webcams should deliver great audio with the need for a separate microphone. If you are looking for a new webcam, the Insta360 Link 2 and Link 2C should be on your shortlist to check out.

Pricing and availability

The Insta360 Link 2 and Link2C webcams are available now. The Link 2 costs $199 and the Link 2C is $149.
