Today, HP is launching its dual-screen gaming laptop, the Omen X 2S laptop, and it allows you to use two screens simultaneously.
This is a gaming laptop, so it should be able to handle all the games you want to play. However, with a second display, it opens up a lot of new ways to play games. For instance, if you want to monitor your stream, you can do so while playing your game — without tabbing out.
Overview of HP’s dual-screen laptop
The main display on the Omen X 2S is a 15-inch 1080p panel. It has a 144Hz refresh rate with the option to upgrade to a 240HZ and a 4K HDR version. Also, the laptop sports Intel’s 9th Gen Intel Core i9 8-core processor. That’s paired with 32GB of RAM and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU.
To keep the Omen X 2S from overheating, HP’s made a cooling system that uses a liquid metal compound that’s applied to the CPU. That should help keep things from overheating and prevent the performance from taking a hit.
The second display
Its second screen is a 6-inch 1080p display that’s meant to be used as a real-time screen mirroring monitor. It lets you cut and magnify parts of the main display. It looks a lot like Apple’s Touch Bar, yet it’s a full secondary screen. Also, you can zoom in with the camera, or you can use it as a display for Discord chat or running a live stream. Additionally, the display could stream YouTube tutorial videos. Essentially, it looks like it can handle almost everything you’d demand from a small second display.
Pricing and availability
The dual-screen laptop Omen X 2S will be out next month. The laptop will have a starting price of $2,099. You can learn more about the laptop by reading it’s press release.
