Hasselblad adds a video mode to the X1D II 50C and 907X

Hasselblad has added a new video mode to the X1D II 50C and 907X medium format cameras. Now, the dedicated camera symbol on the X1D II 50C’s mode wheel will work.

The video mode comes in the newly released firmware 1.2.0 update. As mentioned above, the two cameras that it pertains to are the X1D II 50C and the 907X Special Edition. Both cameras feature the same 50MP 43.8 x 32.9mm CMOS sensor with 16-Bit color. Also, both feature 14-stops of dynamic range.

Hasselblad 1.2.0 update

Now owners of the X1D II 50C and the 907X Special Edition will be able to shoot video with their cameras. Sadly, however, the video that you can shoot with the cameras does not seem to take advantage of the cameras’ massive sensors. You can only shoot either 2.7K or HD video with the cameras. Also, the framerate and color subsampling maxes out at 29.97fps with 4:2:0 8-bit color. It is disappointing, to say the least. However, we do not know if the full sensor is being used to capture video or if it is shooting in window mode.

The manual mode is up and running when shooting video and focus peaking is available for the X1D II 50C and 907X. Also, cameras come with a 3.5mm mic in and headphone out connectors. Video clips are limited to 29L59 mins.
