Fujifilm launches third generation X-T30 III

Fujifilm has launched the latest model in its X series of mirrorless digital cameras. The new Fujifilm X-T30 III offers 6.2K video recording with a design style that harks back to classic 35 mm film cameras.

Compact design

The Fujifilm X-T30 III is compact and lightweight, designed to be taken everywhere with you, over your shoulder, or tucked into a bag. It weighs only 13.3 ounces (378 g) and measures 4.7 inches (118.4 mm) by 3.3 inches (82.8 mm) by 1.8 inches (46.8 mm). The X-T30 III features a 0.39-inch OLED color electronic viewfinder with around 2.36 million dots of resolution. There is also a 3.0-inch tilt-type touch screen color LCD monitor on the back with approximately 1.62 million dots of resolution.

Image sensor

The Fujifilm X-T30 III features a 26.1-megapixel back-side illuminated X-Trans CMOS 4 APS-C size image sensor.  It’s also powered by the high-speed X-Processor 5, which processes images about twice as fast as the previous model. The X-T30 III uses X-Processor 5’s subject detection AF to accurately track a range of subjects, including animals, birds, cars, airplanes, trains and insects.

Video recording

The Fujifilm X-T30 III can record 6.2K (6240 x 4160) video in a 3:2 aspect ratio up to 29.97 frames per second (fps). It can also shoot DCI 4K (4096×2160) at up to 59.94 fps with a 1.18x crop and Full HD in 16:9 or 17:9 at up to 240 fps. Usefully for content creators, you can record 9:16 vertical video in Full HD (1080×1920) up to 29.97 fps. You can save files as H.265 or H.264.

Film Simulation dial

The Fujifilm X-T30 III features the Film Simulation dial that the company introduced with its X-T50 and X-M5 cameras. You can switch between 20 color profiles designed to recreate the look of classic film stocks, including Reala Ace and Acros.

The dial has three customizable positions for you to save your own film simulation recipes. You can also add natural-looking grain to your images and adjust the clarity for a sharper or softer look.

Other features

The Fujifilm X-T30 III has a built-in pop-up flash for taking still images in low light. There’s also an Auto shooting mode switch lever for easy shooting. In addition, you can choose between Black, Silver and Charcoal Silver finishes.

What we think

The Fujifilm X-T30 III delivers the quality and features of a modern mirrorless camera in a classically stylish body. Its compact and lightweight design makes it ideal if you want a camera you can carry round all day. With up to 6.2K recording, you can capture great videos with the X-T30 III, as well as stunning still photographs. If you drop the resolution to 4K or HD, you can also get some super slow-motion clips.

Additionally, you can customize the look of your video with the Film Simulation dial. If you make your living shooting video, then the Fujifilm X-T30 III might not have all the features you need for your main camera. However, it would be ideal as a B camera, and a lot of fun to take with you all the time.

Pricing and availability

Fujifilm says that the X-T30 III will be available from November 2025. It will cost $999 for the body only. You will also be able to buy the camera with a new 13-33mm F3.5-6.3 OIS zoom lens for $1,150.
