Fujifilm revealed its developing the FUJINON Premista 19-45mm T2.9 wide cinema zoom lens and it’s repurposing the SK35-700mm Telephoto PL Mount Box lens.
Premista 19-45mm T2.9
The Premista 19-45mm T2.9 is the newest addition to the Premista zoom lens lines. It joins the 28-100mm T2.9 and the 80-250mm T2.9-3.5. Premista19-45mm is a wide-angle zoom lens that covers a focal lengths from 19mm to 45mm with a constant T-stop of 2.9. Also, it features a large-diameter aspherical lens elements and a “unique” zooming system, according to Fujifilm, allowing it to achieve “an astonishing level of edge-to-edge sharpness.”
According to Fujifilm, the new lens is both short and lightweight. At the same time, Fujifilm claims the lens will be capable of capturing images “images with natural and beautiful bokeh, outstanding high resolution, [and] accurate color rendition.” It’s also capable of controlling lens flare with minimal ghosting when capturing high dynamic range. When zooming, Fujifilm says the lens should show very little distortion throughout the entire zoom range.
Premista 19-45mm’s design
The Premista 19-45mm measures out to be 230mm in length and weighs of 3.3kg. According to Fujifilm, it was able to achieve its design through a mechanical design perfected with simulation technology cultivated over many years and production technology.

SK35-700mm Telephoto PL Mount Box lens
Currently, the FUJINON SK35-700mm PL Mount Telephoto Box lens only telephoto PL mount box lens on the market, making it quite unique. This lens is made for 8K television applications, but Fujifilm claims it’s currently doing “extensive market research” and is exploring the possibility of repurposing the lens as the needs of multi-camera cinema-style productions changes.
Right now, the SK35-700mm Telephoto PL Mount Box lens with a 20x high magnification zoom, covering a focal range of 35mm-700mm at F2.8 (35-315mm) and F4.8 (at 700mm). Additionally, it features a 1.4x extender, bringing the lens’ range to 49mm-980mm on S35 cameras. As for its size, the lens is 28” long and weighs 69 lbs.
“We believe the SK35-700 will deliver on the growing desire of more producers to create a cinematic look,” said Thomas Fletcher, Director of Marketing, Optical Devices Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “The lens range creates the ability to shoot in immersive environments without obstructing views or otherwise interrupting the viewers’ experience.”
