Dreame’s Leaptic Cube action camera promises 8K cinematic video

Dreame is a Hong Kong-based company that makes robot vacuum cleaners and robotic pool cleaners. Now the company has announced an 8K AI tiny action camera, the Dreame Leaptic Cube with the promise of “Cinematic Power in Every Frame.”

Compact design

The Dreame Leaptic Cube has a two-part modular design similar to the DJI Osmo Nano. There is a tiny camera that measures around 2.3 inches (57 mm) by 1.1 inches (29 mm) by 1.1 inches (28 mm) and weighs just 1.8 ounces (52 g). You also get a larger expansion dock with a 2.27-inch dynamic interactive screen. When the camera isn’t attached, the dock will stay connected wirelessly up to a distance of 98 feet (30 meters). Dreame says the Cube uses “ProSync aviation grade transmission” for 10x faster transmission than standard devices. The company says this delivers “crystal-clear, lag-free monitoring and instant transferring.”

8K video

The Dreame Leaptic Cube has a 1/1.3-inch sensor that offers up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range.  Dreame says that the sensor captures vivid, true-to-life colors, even at 2x zoom. It also features a 4nm AI chip to deliver video up to 8K and photos up to 50MP is resolution.

The Cube has a lens with an ultra-wide 155-degree field of view and an aperture of f/2.8. You can record 8K up to 30 frames per seconds (fps), 4K HDR up to 60 fps, and 4K up to 120 fps for slow motion. The camera supports 10-bit P-log recording to capture over 1.07 billion colors and offer more scope for grading in post-production.

AI features

The Dreame Leaptic Cube features GyroSteady AI stabilization to keep your video smooth. This offers modes including Extreme, 45-degree Horizon and 360-degree Horizon. The camera also uses an AI Night Algorithm to brighten shadows and reduce noise when you shoot at night. In addition, AI Scene Optimization recognizes scenes such as city nights, fireworks, and skies to enhance the clarity, vibrance, and depth of your images. There’s an AI protagonist option to keep your subject centered in real-time as well.

Storage and battery life

The Dreame Leaptic Cube offers either 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. You can also expand that capacity by adding a microSD card up to 1 TB to the expansion dock. The battery in the camera module on its own will last up to 90 minutes. However, when the camera is connected to the expansion doc that more than doubles up to 200 minutes.

Additionally, Dreame hints at even longer runtimes, cryptically stating “unlock next-level runtime with our secret modules.”

Other features

The Dreame Leaptic Cube uses visual recognition and AI algorithms to adapt the audio capture to every scene. This means it can enhance dialogue for vlogs, reduce background noise and balance live performances. The Cube also offers an AI voice assistant called Moko to interpret your voice commands or alternatively you can use gesture control. Plus, the camera has a timelapse mode and ultra-long pre-recording feature so you can capture the action that happened before you pressed record.

What we think

The Dreame Leaptic Cube has an impressive specification. With 8K video, it offers higher resolution video than the DJI Osmo Nano. The option for 10-bit log recording and 13.5 stops of dynamic range promises high quality images as well. It remains to be seen whether sample footage lives up to Dreame’s cinematic claims. Also, the company is up against a strong competitor in DJI. However, if the Dreame Leaptic Cube comes in at the right price, it could prove very popular.

Pricing and availability

The Dreame Leaptic Cube was on show at CES 2026 earlier this month, but the company hasn’t announced pricing or a launch date at the time of writing.
