DJI has released a firmware update for its newly released Osmo Pocket 4 and Osmo Pocket 4P pocket gimbal cameras. Both cameras get access to cloud storage along with other great new features.
Camera Cloud Service
With the new firmware, both the Osmo Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P can use DJI’s Camera Cloud Service. This means that you can set your camera to automatically back up your photos and videos to the cloud over Wi-Fi. The service supports uploads to Google Drive, OneDrive and NAS. It also works while your camera is idle, so you don’t need to worry about offloading your footage at the end of a shoot day.
10-bit D-Log slow-motion
The Osmo Pocket 4P is also getting a boost to its slow-motion options. After the firmware update, you can now opt to record slow motion in a 10-bit D-Log file format. Previously, with slow motion, you had to choose a color profile that was baked into your video. Now you have much more scope to color grade your slow-motion clips in post-production. In addition, DJI has released version 2.0 of its D-Log-to-Rec.709 and Rec.709 Vivid LUTs.
Subject-tracking
The new firmware gives the Osmo Pocket 4 a new subject-tracking option you can choose. DJI says that it is faster at identifying and locking onto your subject. This can be a human or an object. Once selected, the Pocket 4 will use its gimbal to track the subject. Following the firmware update, the camera can also zoom while tracking. In addition, it can store the Smart Gimbal Mode that you last used when you power the camera down.
Other new features
The firmware update expands the options to customize your Osmo Pocket 4. You can now set the Custom button’s hold action to be either zoom out or open the custom setting menu. In addition, in portrait mode, you can map the on-screen custom button to deliver multiple-press or press-and-hold actions. For the Osmo Pocket 4P, after the firmware update, the joystick now supports a 45-degree input. This means that you can combine pan and tilt actions to move the gimbal diagonally.
What we think
The firmware updates for DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4 and Osmo Pocket 4P deliver some great new features. As long as you have access to good Wi-Fi, the Camera Cloud Service makes it easy to ensure your footage is automatically backed up. For Osmo Pocket 4P owners, the option to shoot 10-bit D-Log in slow motion will be very welcome too. In addition, the new tracking options with the Osmo Pocket 4 will make it easier to get great video with that camera. If you use the Osmo Pocket 4 or Osmo Pocket 4P, you should update your camera’s firmware as soon as you can to take advantage of the new features.

The new firmware updates for the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and Osmo Pocket 4P are available now. You will need to use the DJI Mimo app to update your camera.
