Dell has launched a new computer in their Precision laptop range. The company hails the Dell Precision 5470 as the most powerful 14-inch workstation. Additionally, Dell also bills it as the smallest and thinnest workstation in the world.
Intel Evo
The Precision 5470 gives you performance levels that were only available with larger workstations in the past. It’s the world’s first laptop based on the 12th Gen Intel Core H-series processor that is verified to meet the Intel Evo platform requirements and based on the Intel vPro platform. The Intel Evo standard means that a laptop must give you at least none hours of use on a single charge. It must also be lightweight and be able to wake from sleep in less than a second.
Specifications
You can buy the Dell Precision 5470 configured with up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory and up to 4 TB of storage. It is also available with up to NVIDIA RTX A1000 graphics. The Precision 5470 has an immersive edge-to-edge 14-inch Infinity Edge display. The display comes with TUV-certified ComfortView Plus. This is a hardware-based low blue light filter that doesn’t consume resources or affect the true color of the screen. The Precision 5470 also has a high-speed Wi-Fi 6E connection.
Keeping cool
Managing heat is always challenging when fitting a powerful computer into a small laptop form factor. Dell has addressed this by developing an innovative new thermal management system. The company’s patented Dual Opposite Outlet fan technology aims to let you run the system at the high speeds you need for complex workflows. Dell also developed its bonded hinge architecture to improve hot air exhaust, contributing to optimized system performance.
AI optimization
The Precision 5470 comes with Dell’s Optimizer for Precision software. This is AI-based software that automatically improves your application performance, battery run-time, audio settings and privacy. For example, when you look away from the screen, an intelligent privacy feature dims the screen to conceal sensitive information when an onlooker is detected.
Build quality
Dell constructed the Precision 5470 from engineered aluminum. Dell finished the laptop with a texture treatment for added tactility and grip. The Precision 5470 still meets the Intel Evo standard requirement to be lightweight, starting from only 3.26 lbs.
Pricing and availability
The Dell Precision 5470 will be available from April 2022. Dell has not released pricing information yet.
