What makes the QNAP TS-464T4 special?
The QNAP TS-464T4 claims the title as the world’s first Thunderbolt 4 NAS. This network-attached storage system features an Intel Celeron N5105 quad-core processor and four 3.5-inch SATA drive bays that support 2.5 and 3.5-inch drives up to 20TB. The enclosure supports RAID 0,1,5,6,10.
Along with those, the new NAS also features two M.2 NVMe PCIe slots, which QNAP claims will provide ideal storage for high-speed media editing and file sharing.
As far as connection options, it has dual-port Thunderbolt 4 as well as native 2.5GbE/10GbE connectivity. Additionally, the TS-464T4 NAS offers HDMI 2.0 output at 4K resolutions up to 60Hz. The NAS also has real-time transcoding capabilities.

Also announced: TS-h1290F
Along with the TS-464T4, QNAP also introduced the TS-h1290FX at CES this week. This new model “sets a new standard in professional studio editing NAS storage,” according to QNAP. Geared for production houses, the TS-h1290FX features 25GbE ports that promise to “easily support multiple editors working with high-definition footage.”
The system also uses an enterprise-grade AMD EPYC processor, ECC RAM and U.2 NVMe SSD drive bays.
Pricing and availability
The QNAP TS-464T4-8G RAID enclosure is priced at $989 and the TS-h1290FX is $4,899. Both will be released at the end of February 2022. For more information, visit qnap.com.
