CES 2020: Western Digital demonstrates 8TB SSD prototype

Western Digital is showcasing the “world’s highest capacity, pocket-sized” 8TB SSD, which features SuperSpeed USB 20 Gbps connectivity. Additionally, the company is releasing a 1TB SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type-C drive for smartphones and laptops.

“Our top priority is to empower people by giving them complete control of their content,” says David Ellis, vice president, product marketing, Western Digital.

At CES, Western Digital will show the “world’s highest capacity, pocket-sized” SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps portable SSD.

1TB SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe USB Type-C

Moving on from the 8TB SSD prototype, Western Digital will launch a new dual connector drive to work with USB Type-C smartphones and laptops. It’s made with an all-metal design and can transfer videos and photos between USB Type-C smartphones, tablets and laptops and USB Type-A computers.

WD_Black P50 Game Drive SSD with SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps

Western Digital says the WD_Black P50 SSD “ will allow PC and console gamers to drive their game and play without limits.” It is the first game drive to feature a SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps interface. So we’ve not seen anything like it on the market. Also, it is out now.
