Danish software developer Capture One has released a powerful new update to its Capture One 22 photo editing software. Version 15.2.0 expands the capabilities of several features. It also delivers speed improvements when the software is running on Apple Silicon. In addition, the update adds support for a number of new cameras and lenses.
Keystone tool redesign
Version 15.2.0 updates the Keystone tool with new functionality and a new interface. The tool now has a tab for guides and another for sliders. This means it is easy to apply corrections automatically and adjust the result manually as well. Capture One has also added Auto Keystone correction for all camera models. This feature automatically corrects your photographs’ perspective and can be applied to batches of images.
Apple Silicon
The latest version of Capture One 22 has several performance improvements for users running on Apple Silicon. Preview Generation is up to 100 percent faster, and Luma Mask rendering is up to 300 percent faster. The update also improves the Feather and Refine Mask tools to make them up to 1000 percent faster. In addition, for users working with Fujifilm APS-C cameras, the software now loads Fujifilm X-Trans raw images up to 100 percent faster.
Other improvements
The upgrade improves the Auto Rotate algorithm, which means you will get more accurate results on images where clear lines such as horizons are visible. In addition, when changing the aspect ratio with the Crop tool, the crop will instantly snap to the new ratio. The behavior of drop-down menus has been improved as well. This means that important functionality is no longer hidden behind a drop-down, which could only be accessed by long-pressing the icons.
Camera and lens support
Capture One Live users will benefit from the upgrade as the duration of individual Live Sessions can now be configured to one, three, five, seven or 14 days. In addition, Capture One has always sorted images by name, but you can now sort by date as well. Version 15.2.0 adds support for the Phase One iXM-GS120 camera. It also adds support for a range of lenses from Olympus, Sony, Canon and Sigma.
