Music is a great way to add energy to your content. Now the cloud-based graphic design tool Canva has made it easy to select the right music to match your design by updating its asset library with over 500,000 popular songs.
The Canva music library
The new music library is available for Canva Pro and Canva for Education users. If you have a free subscription, you can browse the songs in the music library. However, you won’t be able to use them in your creations until you upgrade to one of the paid options. In addition, one important limitation is that you can only use the music library on personal projects or in education. You can’t use the songs for commercials or professional content.
What music genres does Canva offer?
Canva says that the songs include “your favorite chart-toppers and golden oldies.” The music library has everything from pop and jazz to metal and disco. You can also immerse yourself in something new with an incredible range of global artists and diverse genres.
Adding music
The music library seems to make it super easy to add music to your videos, social media and presentations. You simply access the songs from the audio tab on the side panel of the Canva editor. Once you have added your chosen track to your TikTok video or Instagram reel, you can share your content directly to your social media account.
What we think
The new music library is a great addition to Canva. With over half a million songs to choose from you will always be able to find the right soundtrack for your content. Although you need a paid-for or education subscription, it’s also good that free users can check out the library before deciding whether to upgrade to a paid membership. It’s a shame that you can only use the music for your personal or educational videos right now. Hopefully, the platform will add an option for commercial music licensing in the future.
Availability
To use the new music library you need a Canva Pro and Canva for Education subscription. Canva Pro costs $15 per month or $120 if you pay for a whole year, saving you nearly $60. Canva for Education is free for eligible teachers and students.
